What We Do - Digitisation and IT Advice

Digitisation helpExpert help in digitisation.

We can provide expert help in planning and identifying requirements for digitisation and a sounding board for Information Technology (IT) projects.

Digitisation advice

ILRT is home to the Technical Advisory Service for Images (TASI). TASI provides advice and guidance to University colleagues planning and implementing a digitisation project. We also provide a consultancy service to the wider higher education and cultural sector community.

The TASI website features a wealth of freely-available advice, documentation and resources designed to help you with a wide range of issues relating to the creation, management, delivery and use of digital images in learning, teaching and support.

IT advice

We can also provide advice on IT equipment, software and standards for both digitisation and other projects. A discussion with one of our development team can help estimate costs and requirements or highlight an existing solution that requires no cost or effort at all.

Examples of our work

Theatre Collection
We helped colleagues in the Theatre Collection with putting the proposal together, assisted with the setting up and calibration of the scanning equipment, defined metadata standards and customised a project database. We also provided tailored training to project staff in digital capture and cataloguing.

TASI prepared a detailed scoping study and wrote a successful bid for this very large (£1M) digitisation project. TASI is seconding a part-time project manager to the project and ID have developed a database to manage part of the project workflow.
